Three new poems, Destroyers of False Gods (rejected: I had a sneaky feeling), Fourteen Lines and Time Lapse.
No new funny-stories but, Bob and Charlie #4 and #5 want out.
I'm thinking of seriously scrapping Pointless Posting Man #5. I thought it was good, but now... I think it's total crap.
Still working on two of my mini-series. Expect one to be completely posted by no later than November.
I've decided to do a 'how-to' BP-style. A guide to help noobs become better writers; to get down on paper once and for all methods I use to write; how and why I write, all down step by step, line by line, paragraph by paragraph.
And now, a Writing Guide for at least Dismal-Hope Kid, maybe No-Point Lad.
Old Stuff, New Again: I'm instituting my old and time-honored Summer Reading Program. At least two books are to be read by this time next month. I've chosen history as the genre this year, and the two books are as follows: Lincoln by Gore Vidal and John Adams by David McCullough. I've got several others I'm currently reading which will also be read: Community Power... by Nelson Polsby and The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis, two books from last years overflow. |

I guess I'm in my 'historical mode' tonight, because the first thing I thought when reading that ([WOW]) was the Roman Empire. I was more in war mode when thinking of the Roman Empire while reading this really. More because militarily, the United States at this point reminds me of a young Rome, expanding into other countries while putting up (mostly) weak explanations to invade a country. Many of the Etruscan-backed cities and states in Italy eventually either fell or died off due to these tactics, and moreso beyond Italy itself. Julius Caesar did it with Britania; Trajan did it with Mesopotamia (Iraq); Marcus Aurelius did it with anything bordering the Empire, just like the old days. Things only settled down with Hadrian, who cam after Trajan. Never again would things get as terrible militarily (well, aside from M. Aurelius). But then came the 3rd and fourth centuries, where generals would fight each other using the same principle as the war in Iraq. "They have superior weapons!," one general would say. "Therefore, we must strike our enemies!" Diocletian came along, forming the Tetrarchy, which created three Augustii (or junior rulers) which really settled things down for the most part. But that brings us to a new point. The United States from what I've read and seen is constantly compared to the Roman Empire of this era. Much like the U.S., the Roman Empire was in and out of recession, war, high taxes and even frivolous lawsuits. Constantine I eventually used religion as the key issue to first unify, then separate, then re-unify the Empire, much like in the United States. He used subversive war to eliminate his enemies, going the more traditional route for the holdouts; persecuted pagans using his political power; created recession and war for his own purposes.
Really, quite comparable to George W. Bush and the rest of American Politicians. Creating war to fill the pockets of oil companies and government contracted companies, in turn filling the Politicians Pockets with 'donated' money from American Taxpayers. Where else do you think the lost 9 Billion dollar$ from the Iraq War Budget has gone? Donated to Politicians and Executives supplying the war to American Troops. Now I support our Troops 100%, but I don't support the war. I'm pretty sure Bush has used subversive methods (lethal too) to get rid of his enemies, not only abroad, but right at home. Bush does persecute to an extent Muslims; but Christians are getting the short end of the stick too. It's not crazy. Christians who are into politics and are generally less supportive of Bush continually are persecuted by their disapproval of his policies, and those run as politicians are turned into unpopular bible-thumping radicals, despite being everyday people and members of the Republican or Democratic Parties. Their persecution goes beyond politics once more, and Christians are now persecuted because they are just that: Christian. Buy low, sell high should be the Bush motto. Buying into economically depressed companies in 2002-03, and soon to be selling out in 2007-08 for quite a good profit actually. Bush: True Roman. The Roman Empire really never fell, only in name. But, you could say the same for every American President for at least the last 60 years, Democrat or Republican. So, in conclusion to the long, quick comparative essay-turned-rant (I've never been good at non-fiction), I say Hail to the Chief, Hail to the past Chiefs, and Hail to the future Chiefs of the (Roman-)American Empire!!
I'm neither Democrat or Republican (though I did initially register and vote Republican). I like neither and find both to generally be untrustworthy. I can name whom I've voted for (four times, twice in school 'elections'): 92- Perot 96- Clinton 00- Bush (first time voter) 04- Peroutka Though I've voted for flukes (Perot, Peroutka) and total failures (Bush), I'm quite happy with the coices I made and obviously, not afraid to mention whom I voted for. I feel that if I'm going to vote for them, I shouldn't make it a secret I'll keep the rest of my life. Be proud of who you vote for. "Vote for the candidate that the Union backs," my dad advised in 2000. I voted for a different Union candidate then: a candidate I thought could make America stronger in its Union. Never be afraid to make this place better to live in, even if you vote or not. (Remember, the Roman Empire fell only in name.) Give America its own sovereignity back. Give its political institutions back to its people.

| [BP/Spoiler] More Writing update situation mode deal.... blah... |
[Feb. 9th, 2006|05:31 pm] |
Well, no Ape issue for me. I do plan on making at least some sort of contribution to the Ape Cause, because my love for Ape Month was somewhat large. Plus, I really like the snippet of story I've got so far, and just can't let it go, not at this point.
Possible Man has ground to a halt, only because I'm unsure how to work in a scene (which will probably be important) involving Possible Man and Stop-Drop-and-Roll Lass. There are a few other concerns continuity wise with the scene, but the former is what is really holding up that work.
Once more, a story for No-Point Lad and Dismal-Hope Kid has popped into my mind like a balloon. It's staying with me this time, unlike most other times, and I do feel that this could be it. Scrap the whole origin deal and just maybe the fight to save the Cosmic Drive-In.
Also, have got a good story in mind (finally) for my yet-unnamed (publicly) mini-series. I've got the core of it, but now have gotten some of the crust.
My sequel to Boring Man Saves Canada, Snow Comander and the World Below, seemed dead in the water, then not, but seemingly is again. Also, I've got a few ideas for a mini-series involving Ultimate Ninja brewing. Maybe not the main character, but a very important one. I'm pretty sure now that even though Boring Man came with the LNH label, its pretty much an alternate universe, and that anything LNH I write would probably fit there.
Also, I have a strong feeling that I should write something in the 8Fold universe. Obviously, I'd have to talk it over with Tom (Russell); see what he thinks. But for now, its only a strong feeling, almost like I'm compelled to do so. Its kind of freaking me out.
I'm going to eventually put out a new series titled Boring Publications Presents. So, you'll be able to read at the top of the tale: Boring Publications Presents...
Boring Publications Presents... #1
I've already got three stories in mind for it, one of which is the previously mentioned Apes story. |

I had a dream 2 days ago. It was weird, and probably not very explainable. But, I do remember one thing; something, or perhaps someone, I should know. At first, I thought it was someone I was related to, so, being a hobby genealogist, I searched for some of my own family. (I did have success in finding several of my g-g-grandpa Munn's cousins who lived in Nebraska and Oklahoma, eventually moving to California.) Exciting as my genealogical find was, it was not the right information from the dream. So, I began my search once more, looking for various things which I have no interest/ability in (like making a homemade shortwave radio (Ability)). Still nothing. So, my search continued. Just minutes ago, I logged into my google groups account. I was bored while looking at alt.assassination.jfk and several other groups where I lurk (and once in a GREAT while, actually post something), and hopped on over to rec.arts.comics.creative in hopes of finding whatever it was I was supposed to find. Well, wouldn't you know, I found it:
http://archives.eyrie.org/racc/misc/Marlo.Vivo/
The title is what gave it away. I do remember giving this a quick read-through when it first came out. I'm a bit tired at this late hour, and will begin reading tomorrow. |

| [BP] Apes Month on RACC |
[Dec. 13th, 2005|05:51 pm] |
I'll make it official:
I have 4 stories planned but may only write two of them. They are:
Knights of the Banana Republic
Gigantopithecus Tales #1/2
Gigantopithecus Tales #2/2
Planetoid of the Humans
The mini-series Gigantopithecus Tales is the one I'll probably write. But, BP is a whenever/whatever publisher, so don't be surprised if you do see all 4. |

Currently working on Pointless Posting Man #5, Scenes In the Life of Possible Man #3 and No-Point Lad & Dismal-Hope Kid Special #1 (yes, you've heard correct). I think I may post Amish Man #1 (finally) either today or tomorrow. I just want to get that situation over with; still planning to post the rest of Amish Man (#2-10) eventually. Also, I will likely be making a contribution to the Talking Apes Month stories at http://groups.google.com/group/rec.arts.comics.creative
I've got a few ideas cooking. :) |
